The Izumiotsu Wind Band was founded in 1966 by mainly alumni of Seifu Junior High School in Izumiotsu City.
When it was first formed, it was a group of about 10 music-loving friends, but now it has grown to a large group of about 60 members.
The members are very diverse, ranging from high school students to people in their 60s, and enjoy playing together. Over the years, there have also been married couples and parents and their children. In terms of performance activities, the group performs about 12 times a year in addition to its own concerts twice a year.
In 2016, the group celebrated its 50th anniversary and commissioned a commemorative piece from composer Philip ・ Spark, which resulted in "Zodiac Dances ～ Zodiac Dances ～," a world premiere performance on November 20 of the same year at the Izumiotsu Civic Hall, conducted by Philip ・ Spark. We will continue to improve our musicality and technique, develop a repertoire of various genres, and aim to give performances that will please everyone.
